Communities along the shores of Lake Malawi have been greatly affected by the rising water levels, which have led to heavy flooding in the areas. The problem has persisted for about five months leading to the destruction of houses, crops and other property.

Today, our team of social workers visited one of the hardest-hit areas, Chipalamawamba Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Mponda in Mangochi. The floods have rendered some key feeder roads impassable forcing communities to use canoes to access essential services. Children from the areas are also paying boat operators to reach their schools.

Let us join hands to ensure that the affected residents in the flooded areas are being supported to access health and other essential services.
